4th of July Popsicle Parade Rain Delay

POPSICLE PARADE RAIN DELAY:

Due to the weather, the Popsicle Parade will now begin at noon.  The fire truck is still on call, and live music will be performing.  Hope everyone can still make it!

Please join us for the annual 4th of July Popsicle Parade which will take place on Independence Day at 10AM. Meet at 635 Meyer Boulevard. Dress in your red, white and blue! Ride your bike, trike, wagon, or walk in this short parade. Popsicles will be provided!

KC Green Neighborhood Recognition

Greenway Fields is in the process of applying for an award through Kansas City Green Neighborhood Recognition Program in order to recognize our residents and their efforts to improve sustainability. Our neighborhood embraces sustainable practices and values green initiatives such as park cleanups and new tree plantings.

Volunteer Day at Greenway Fields Park

Volunteer day – Saturday, June 10th from 9-11 AM at Greenway Fields Park (63rd/Valley Rd). Please bring a heavy style lawn rake to spread new rubber mulch, or come to join in sealing concrete table and bench. The board has materials and brushes for sealing work.

Greenway Fields Park Closure

Greenway Fields Park will be temporarily closed Thursday June 8th & Friday June 9th 2017. Crews and machinery will be working on the playground box and grading work happening for expanded box and new rubber mulch addition in preparation of new infant swing.

KC Streetcar 1st Birthday Party

Celebrate one year of the KC Streetcar in downtown Kansas City on May 6th, 11AM-2PM. All are welcome to this family friendly, community event under the big tent outside Union Station.

Mayor Sly James will kick off the festivities and DJ Kemet the Phantom will get us all dancing with his music. Check out the latest line and streetcar shirts from MADE Urban Apparel.

There will be food trucks, games, art, a clown, balloons, giveaways, and, of course, birthday cake!

Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday

ENERGY STAR®-qualified appliances purchased during this week within KCMO, located in Jackson County, are exempt from state and city sales tax. In addition, purchases made in the portions of Kansas City, located in Clay, Platte, Jackson and Cass counties will be exempt from city, state and county sales tax.

The Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday exempts state sales tax on retail sales of qualifying energy star certified new appliances, up to $1,500 per appliance, during a seven-day period beginning at 12:01 a.m. on April 19 and ending at midnight on April 25.

New Tree Planting

Your neighborhood board is assessing areas within Greenway Fields that need new trees planted including residential properties and five park and traffic island locations.  If you wish to have a new tree planted on your property, the board asks that you accept responsibility for the tree and water regularly.  Greenway Fields Neighborhood CID can plant trees in the street easement curb box.  This is the approx. 5 foot area from the street to sidewalk, or 5 feet back of street if your property does not have a sidewalk.  To express interest in a new tree planting, please submit your name and address to:

Hard to Recycle Collection Event

Hard to Recycle Collection Event

Kansas City, Missouri is hosting a Hard to Recycle Collection Event on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 8 am to 12 pm. The event will be held at the Manuel Tech Career Center (1320 Truman Road).  If you live in the city, this is your opportunity to donate household goods, furniture, mattresses, bikes and building materials to Disabled Veterans, Avenue of Life, Revolve and Truman Habitat ReStore. Surplus Exchange will collect electronics and on-site document shredding (up to five bags) will be available.   More information:
